This proud carpenter from Porto, in northern Portugal, has been building wooden ships all his life, and he stops Jack to show him around the boatyard. It’s a Sunday, and he’s the only worker in sight. Even though he speaks no English, he manages to convey the production process to Jack, and he proudly stands for his portrait when the tour is done. Before letting Jack go, he shows him a World War II medal, and pounds his chest.
