Tree trunks in Islesboro woods exist only for a short time after snow stops falling, and Jack has to be willing to snowplow his way through back roads, usually the first car through just after sunrise.
Branches of pine and spruce bend under the weight of their frosted load, ready to spring back once the sun hits the edge of the woods and melts the snow. |
