What is Happening to our Farmland?
Connecticut's population continues to increase and development pressures have not eased. As a result, much of the state's prime farmland vanishes.
Landowners throughout the state are seeking ways to protect their family's land and their community's heritage and sense of place. People in Connecticut are concerned about keeping working land available for present farmers, future farmers, wildlife habitat, and for the joy of seeing farms within the landscape.
There are several options and steps landowners can take to permanently preserve their fields and forest while maintaining the farm, sustainably harvesting lumber, and simply enjoying open, rolling land.
